Member Alert: DoorDash Breach affects 4.9 Million People

10/1/2019

Food delivery service DoorDash recently reported that on May 4, 2019, an unauthorized third-party service gained access to user information. The breach is reported to affect consumers, delivery drivers and merchants who used the DoorDash service on or before April 5, 2018.

The information gathered from this breach includes:

  • Profile information

o Name

o Email address

o Addresses

o Order history

o Phone numbers

o Hashed and partial passwords

  • Some consumers had the last four digits of their payment credit or debit card compromised
  • Some delivery drivers and merchants had the last four digits of their bank account compromised
  • About 100,000 drivers had their driver’s license compromised

DoorDash has communicated that in the cases where “partial” card numbers or bank account numbers were comprised there was not enough data gained through the breach to result in fraudulent activity against those people affected. If you have any questions or concerns, our Shore 2 Shore staff are here to help you learn more about how data breaches affect consumers and steps you can take to monitor your accounts more diligently.
